Ryder and Jackson – Wainwright Childrens Photographer (Lifestyle)

Most of my sessions with my nephews are planned a little bit in advance, but not this one! My sister was out for an adventure with the boys and hoping to capture some candids on her own camera when her camera battery died. So since I was close by I thought it would be fun to be ‘Super TeeTee’ and come to the rescue.

(TeeTee is the boys word for Auntie and I am quite taken with my nickname!)

Baby Nash – Wainwright Newborn Portraits

Mr. Nash was such a little sweetheart to photograph for his newborn session. We met up on the morning of Mother’s Day and this little monkey snoozed for the entire session!  2015-07-20_0010 Maddox was so excited to be part of his little brother’s session. He was all sorts of proud to be a big brother.2015-07-20_0011 2015-07-20_0012 2015-07-20_0013 2015-07-20_0014 2015-07-20_0015 2015-07-20_0016 2015-07-20_0017Thank you to the Smyl family! ‘Life’s tough when you’re two…’2015-07-08_0001

For future reference… sorry for these first two photos muchkins! We took my nephews out a few days after their second birthday to get some birthday photos, but the boys just weren’t wanting anything to do with the camera. They weren’t feeling 100% so it wasn’t their best ever photo day.

Now that they are feeling much better I took them out for a re-try session and had much better luck! ❤2015-07-08_0002 2015-07-08_0003 2015-07-08_0004 2015-07-08_0005 2015-07-08_0006 2015-07-08_0007 2015-07-08_0008 2015-07-08_0009 2015-07-08_0010 2015-07-08_0011 2015-07-08_0012 2015-07-08_0013

Name Change! Welcome to Laura Smiley Photography!

Some of you may be wondering about the recent changes to my logo and page name. I have noticed for some time that my fans and clients are often asking me what my first name is when we meet or start e-mailing. I want everyone to feel comfortable to approach me and not have that lingering feeling of…

‘Great, so I know you are a photographer, and your last name is Smiley… – but what do I actually call you!?’ (Fun Fact – I do respond just as quickly to ‘Smiley’ and I do to Laura.)

Meeting new people and having the privilege to work with so many wonderful people in my job is one of my favourite parts of the experience. I hope that with sharing my full name it can open up conversation more quickly and easily. I am so excited about the change!

For those of you who haven’t been following me long I’d like to tell you a little about myself.

  • Most of my life has been spent living in Wainwright Alberta. I moved back in 2013 and am quite happy to call Wainwright my home.
  • I have been running Laura Smiley Photography (formerly L Smiley Photography) since I graduated from high school in 2008.
  • I attended Grant MacEwan University from 2008-2011 and studied Design with a major in Photography. I met some amazing friends in those years.
  • I absolutely love outdoor photography. Whether it be weddings, grads, family, sports, etc… I love being outdoors as much as possible.
  • I love Nikon and I love Macs
  • My favourite sport is baseball – and it is probably the only sport that I actually understand the rules and can actually watch from start to finish without being completely lost. (Go Blue Jays, Cubs & Cardinals!)
  • Traveling keeps me sane. I usually like to have my next trip planned before I am even home from the last.
  • I love a good road-trip. Even if it is work related that time on the road is so much fun. I find myself constantly admiring the scenery and thinking ‘I wish I had a bride in the car with me…’
  • Coffee and steak are staples. A morning is truly not started until I have had that coffee. And steak… That’s a food group if you ask me. 😉
  • One of my favourite adventures in the last two years has been Auntie ‘TeeTee’ to my handsome twin nephews. Those two absolutely melt my heart.

Cheers!

Kaycee – First Birthday Cake Smash

I can hardly believe that an entire year has flown by since I met little miss Kaycee when she was just 4 day old! As her mom and I set-up for her cake-smash session we reminisced about how it really just seemed like a couple of weeks ago I had been at their home setting up for her newborn session. I absolutely love when I get to work with families as they grow. It’s so special watching these little ones grow into such adorable little people!

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY KAYCEE! ❤

Ryder & Jackson – Wainwright Childrens Portraits

It has been quite a long while since my favorite little minions have hit the blog. They are growing up so fast and they are FAST – which makes photo sessions without assistance much more difficult than it was in the past. Last week on one of my ‘Auntie Laura babysitting days’ I figured I would give a little session a shot. IT WAS HARD! I would get one of the minions sitting and go to grab the other but by the time I got minion #2 sitting Minion #1 would already be long gone looking for his own adventure. Needless to say, there aren’t really any photos of the munchkins together for this session. There is some major cuteness though!
